Okay, I have come out of hiding.

Yes I know... you must be wondering where the heck I've been for the past two months, and why I'm only just now updating this journal. Well let me tell you this: I've been attempting to get a social life.

And barely succeeding.

Lately I've been pulling mostly midday and preclosing shifts at work, and they've been a bit draining. And when you feel drained, it makes you not want to work. This can lead to a period of depression. Depression leads to seclusion.

Which is where I've been for the past two months.

I've taken on some side projects in the meantime. I've been helping my friend Liz (aka Wildefyre) update her website, which specializes in shounen-ai/yaoi material; and also helping my coworker out with creating a portfolio for her work (she specializes in textiles/faux finishes). For my own projects, I'm slowly working on the story for my graphic novel, and have also completed two watercolor pieces. I plan to get them up when I have a chance.

As for my sort-of social life, I've got a new friend in my coworker Doug. One of the only two guys working at my Starbucks, he's kind of a hottie, and he loves to mess with me. As in joking, yelling out my name for no reason, and trying out new ways to get me uptight and make me squirm. (Eeesh!) His boyfriend Robert is kind of a hottie too, and I think they make such a cute couple. (This confirmed after I got to hang with them in Japantown one day.)

I've also recently got my coworker Natreece into reading manga. She snuck a peek at the Kare Kano manga that I was reading, and she was all excited, digging the drama. I lent her the first volume, and now she is hooked. Though at first she had to get used to the right-to-left format of the book, as Tokyopop publishes most of their manga "the authentic Japanese way", yet dubbed in English.

Anyway, this Friday I am heading to Las Vegas with Joe to talk with the wedding planner at the Venetian. That's right, we decided to get married at the Venetian. In Vegas. How we finally decided on Vegas is kinda beyond me, but hey, it's happening. And what a frickin' coincidence that Doug will be there too, hanging with his cousins. Very unlikely that I'll bump into him though, although that would be very funny if we did run into each other.

Okay, time to get off the soapbox. Until next time, kiddies.
