This moment I am roasting some coffee in Joe's coffee roaster. Huzzah! I never would've thought roasting would be THAT simple.

Another cool skill added to this coffee geek's repetoire.

My job at Starbucks is going well so far. I've mastered the register and making frappuccinos, now all I need to work on is my bar skills. Milk steaming's pretty easy, but it's pulling shots that's hard. I just can't seem to tamp the grinds correctly for a perfect pull. I have been so tied up on register I haven't had time to practice.

At least the Sunday after next I'll be getting extensive bar training. It'll be worth coming in at 7 am. Screw developing carpal tunnel--after all this I'll be a proud and happy camper and brag to my friends that I know how to use an old-school espresso machine.

This Saturday Joe's mom is flying in. Pretty excited about that. I'm wondering what the heck we're all going to do on the first day. I think it's going to be neat.

Other things that are happening: I finished the latest Fake novel--things are getting intense between Dee and Ryo. I am totally looking forward to the next one (coming in November), and I get all drooly and jittery just thinking about it. They make such a cute couple (for a bisexual guy and a straight guy on the brink of coming out of the closet).

Sigh. ^_^

Also recently: Joe bought himself one of those neat iPods, the one that holds 10 gigs of mp3s, along with an iTrip, which enables you to play your music from the iPod through the radio. How cool is that? No more having to burn CDs and not have them play in the CD player. Technology is wonderful, ain't it?

That's all on the homefront. More later.

I'm watching Bend It Like Beckham on DVD right now. Joe's loving every minute of it. And so am I.

God, I love that movie. As Igor from Dork Tower said, "It must be MINE!!!!!"

Eh, I suppose I can wait till I save up from paychecks and all, then ta-dah! ^_^

I'm still getting used to the stress of working my first job, but so far it's been fun. Yesterday I practiced working the register and calling out drinks...not such an easy task for someone not used to raising her voice. I'm giving myself a few days tops, and I should have it down pat.

Of course, I still have to learn how to use the espresso machine. I'm thinking of getting a home espresso machine so I could practice pulling shots, and also a French press. Good golly, I'm becoming more amd more of a coffee junkie with every passing moment.

Still waiting for my Fake book to come in. I wish it would hurry up.

But anyway, that's all for now...keep y'all posted.
