So last night I watched Ai Yori Aoshi on DVD (disc 3). How kawaii!

If you haven't checked out Ai Yori Aoshi yet, you should do so if you get the chance. This is especially made for all you romantics out there (admittedly I am one of them).

Here's a short, spoiler-free summary of this anime: Girl is on quest to find boy she is betrothed to since childhood. Girl meets boy in train station who turns out to be the one she is looking for. Girl and boy fall for each other at first sight. Servant of girl's family comes along, insist that relationship between boy and girl must be kept under wraps, to avoid scandal as girl's family runs a huge corporation. Girl and boy end up together--in a fancy estate complex with a bunch of other girls living as tenants. Hilarity ensues.

Speaking of anime, my all time favorite one is Fake. It's more of a shonen-ai (boys' love) manga than an anime, although an OAV was made based on the second volume. It's so adorable...a sweet love blossoming between an openly bisexual guy (that's Dee) and a guy who claims to be straight (that's Randy, better known as Ryo). This just enforces what I already believe from experience--the really cute guys are gay. And for anime characters they're both sexy hunks of beefcake (mrrrowwww!).

Last night I went in search for more Fake wallpaper for my laptop. Can you believe there are hardly any good wallpaper findings? There are a few, which I managed to download already, but choices are so limited. That's when I decided to take matters in my own hands. I've decided to start creating a few Fake wallpapers of my own. This give me an excuse to practice using Photoshop. I've already collected a few juicy images that would make perfect wallpaper material.

While we're on the subject of Fake, I'm anxiously waiting for my copy of vol. 3 of the manga. The kissing scenes make my heart all afutter (of course it does--I'm a woman), and the stories make for a good read.

Life's getting better and better by the minute. ^_^

The weather in Daly City today is a bit humid...and very muggy. This happens kind of occasionally, but at least it's not as hot as in my hometown of Vallejo (north of San Francisco).

You would think it would be much, much cooler since it's already September. Mother Nature sure likes to pull people's legs, I guess.

Once again, I got in a heated debate with Joe over moving to the east coast...more likely New York. Joe wants to go to grad school, hopefully at RIT (that's Rochester Institute of Technology). I guess he has to do what he has to do, but the thought of moving away from everything I'm used to here, everything I love...ugh, it gives me the creeps. I'm sorry, but there's no way in HELL anyone's gonna move this California girl. Born a California girl, will always stay a California girl. The east coast is just nice for visiting, but you can just forget about living there.

Hee hee hee...

A lot of things to look forward to: Starbucks training, laundry, working on the website...ugh. Then there's playing the Sims (it took two hours to reinstall 'cause the computer was wonky), and working on my graphic novel. I'm not sure yet what format I'm gonna end up doing, but I have an idea of what the premise will be. I see it as something of an exaggerated autobiographical, about life after college.

Now I just have to get off my butt and do it (hee hee).

Well, today's the day. It's my first day on the job at Starbucks.

Um, not quite.

Actually, it looks like I'm starting work next week, after job training in San Francisco. Today is the day I go and meet my supervisor, fill out paperwork and other stuff. And by the 26th I'll be getting my first paycheck. Yes!

I finally found out where Starbucks put me--in the mall. I'll be working at the Serramonte Mall, which is about 15 minutes from my place (if I take the bus), near the Marie Callander's. This is my first job ever, so I'm pretty excited. I'm also looking forward to doing my very best, just wowing them customers. And to think...I'll be working in the mall! The opportunity to shop after work (or before) is presenting itself, but I shouldn't tempt myself. It's a time to save money for bills and stuff, that's for sure.

Next month my future mother-in-law is coming for a visit. Joe's mom is so nice; I learn a lot from her whenever I talk to her. I can definitely see where most of Joe's personality comes from (the other part must come from his dad). Anyway, Joe and I are already planning places to visit, restaurants to eat at, wedding spots to peruse, that sort of thing. And hopefully, if I can get time off from work, I'll be able to help Mom make lumpia and sauce for Mrs. Connolly to take home.

Of course, with Joe's mom visiting, I'm going to have to clean, clean, clean like I've never cleaned before. Oy vey.

Let the beginning of the rest of my life begin!

I am in waiting no more.

That's right, you guessed it...............Catherine Landa finally has a job!

I finally got a callback from Starbucks this morning. This past week I thought I didn't get the barista job, simply because I didn't get a callback. Turns out though (and the manager--who called--explained this to me) that the manager was on vacation and took a while to go through the applications.

But that's okay. I'm now a member of the workforce! I feel so giddy and full of joy.

Ahh, I'm now looking forward to the days where I can finally bring in a paycheck, have my own medical insurance, pay for my own stuff, get my own car, buy my own clothes and other stuff...yay. No more mooching. And I can definitely be able to pay off my student loans when they start.

Of course, with me working at Starbucks at least part time, I'll only be able to accept freelance work in which I can telecommute. And with the money I'll be saving up, I think it's time to start generating ideas for a graphic novel. I've always wanted to draw a graphic novel, kind of like the manga books I read.

How exciting.

Now how to celebrate my good fortune......hmm. Maybe dinner at Nirvana Noodle House will suffice. I've been there three times, and it's a really cool place. Food's just awesome, and it's even better enjoying your entree out at their heated patio area--which is decked out kind of like a jungle. How fitting for a place located in the Castro district.

Whoa, getting ahead of myself there.

Anyway though, that's about it for today.

I'm still in waiting.

Yes, that's right: I applied at Starbucks for a barista job.

I was a bit of a nervous wreck when I hit their job fair last Thursday, but after about an hour and a half I managed to smooth-talk my way through two interviews. They seemed impressed with what I had to say about myself, and after that I walked out there confident--and with a frappaccino.

Cross your fingers for me and hope they call me for training, because I'm feeling a bit desperate here.

On to another topic: the opening song to Boogiepop Phantom--Yuudachi.

Seems a lot of anime fans are in need of getting this song and are asking me to send a copy of the mp3 to 'em, since I let word out in an anime forum that I have the song. Of course, after a while I'm going to take it down...so if you're reading this now, you better seize your chance to get this song before too late. And hopefully, you already have the BP soundtrack (or planning to buy an import or whatever) as file sharing is supposed to be a no-no if you don't pay for it (i.e. subscription service).

Anyway, I'm getting sleepy. G'night.

Ai ya!

Today I had to go through the trouble of recoding my rants page. I was editing it earlier and I accidentally erased most of the code. Yikes.

Hopefully it's working now.

Yesterday I applied for a sales associate job at Macy's in Concord. Yeah yeah yeah, I know it'll take a long commute on my part, but what else could I do? Most of the job locations are located in places I'm unfamiliar with, like Palo Alto and San Leandro. At least I know my way around Concord (because I've lived there before). It's accessible by BART after all, so no worries.

I'll tell you now...job hunting bites.

Ah...Labor Day.

A time to relax and kick it with family and friends...all before you get hit by the first day of school.

Ha ha. Not happening to me this year.

Now that I'm a college graduate, it's nice to not have to face the first day of school or going back to work. Of course, I'm still without a job. (sigh) The BerryDog thing fell through, and it'll be awhile until something else good comes along. Maybe I'll try putting my resume on monster.com or something. For some reason I think, I'm being cursed. It's like no one wants to give me a job.

Grr.

On a happier note, this past Saturday Joe and I went to the Cheesecake Factory in Union Square. We were joined by my sister Abby and her friend Christina, both whom have joined us after seeing Phantom of the Opera at the Orpheum Theater. It was a cool experience (if you didn't count the hour-and-a-half wait--trust the place to be located within Macy's).

We all got to eat at the heated patio area, with the fog just rolling in...pretty nice if you're into that kind of thing. I enjoyed a wonderful plate of pesto spaghettini w/ grilled chicken, mushrooms, tomatoes and pine nuts. This followed a wonderful appetizer of avacado (yes that's right--AVACADO) eggrolls with a tamarind/cashew dipping sauce. And to top it all off: a slice of tiramisu cheesecake. Very smooth and delicious.

The Cheesecake Factory definitely lives up to its name. It'll be a while before I ever go there again--waiting for a table could be a nightmare. Even worse, this particular location does not take reservations. Maybe the one in San Jose does, but who the hell would want to travel so far?

Anyway...hope you're enjoying your Labor Day. I know I am.
