It's finally happened: I've been barista-certified.

I never thought the day would come... but no longer.

Monday afternoon my boss gave me the results of my six-month review. That's right, tomorrow will mark exactly six months since I first started working at Starbucks. The review was a good one, resulting in a merit increase in pay (can you say ka-ching?), and in addition I finally got certified (and with that I got a pin that I now wear on my apron).

Obviously I like my job--can you blame me? This coming from someone who's been a loyal Starbucks patron for over five years. :)

Lately I've been adding more and more to my manga collection (and to my anime mp3 collection), as well as watching more anime. I've started collecting volumes of Excel Saga, as well as Gravitation, another shounen-ai manga, Girl Got Game (better know in Japan as Power!), and some odds and ends. I've also finished watching some new series: Someday's Dreamers and Witch Hunter Robin. Thank goodness for DVD!

Someday I will be a famous artist/manga-ka/animator, and my work will be appreciated the way I appreciate the work of other others. And I'm slowly working toward that goal. But hey, you gotta remember to enjoy your life as well, as each day passes.

(Where did that come from? That's enought philosophy for tonight. Heh heh.)

Just a quick update...

I'm in the process of working on a few projects: a logo for my fiance, writing for my graphic novel, and starting some "just for fun" projects. As soon as I can get some things resolved, I will add these things to my site.

Okay, I'm a terrible person.

Last month I said I would make myself write more...and yet I became busy with other things (work, work, work). This month however, I'm gonna have to make sure I kick myself in the behind to keep this blog updated.

These days have been pretty enjoyable. I haven't mentioned this before now, but I no longer work at the Starbucks at Serramonte; I've transferred over to the Starbucks at San Bruno Towne Center, across from Tanforan (yes, that's where Seabiscuit broke his first race record). Everyone there is as bright and funny as those at Serramonte. Of course there are two guys I miss working with and I hope someday we'll work together again (Mike and Kevin, that means you--if you're reading this, please stay in touch!).

This past Sunday Joe and I acquired a new espresso machine--the Starbucks Barista model (in candy apple red, of all colors). Why get one? For convenience and savings of course. That and the fact that Joe's been on a bit of an Americano kick. Thanks to a visit to Dana Street Cafe and good reviews of the machine from coffeegeek.com, Joe decided to get one and put his excess coffee supply to good use. I've also been taking the opportunity to make my own toffee nut lattes thanks to the espresso kit and toffee nut syrup I bought. Pretty awesome stuff.

It's funny though. I've always seen espresso machines in those catalogs and thought they would be difficult to use. Now that I'm working as a barista, using them is easy as pie. Who'd have thunk it?

I've also been making use of Joe's iPod. Someday I'll be able to afford one of my own, but for now his'll do. I ended up downloading some of the songs from Karaoke Revolution and listening to them nonstop. I'm now addicted to "Crawling in the Dark" by Hoobastank.

I hope KR come out with expansion packs soon. I can only sing "Don't Know Why" so many times.

One of these days Joe and I will get a chance to explore San Jose. I've been on an exploring kick lately, so I've been bugging him to drive us places we've never been on weekends. San Jose is one of the many cities in the Bay Area I've never stepped foot in, along with Livermore, Union City, and God knows where else. I especially want to check out Santana Row because I heard there were lots of cool shops and dining spots there.

Anyway that's about it for now. Till tomorrow, anyway.
